Dane: *sits on the edge of the bed, placing his hand atop the lump* “You said you wanted me to get you up before I left, so…*squeezes her gently* get up.”

 

Charley: *muffled* “Die.”

 

Dane: “I’m going to feign hard of hearing and pretend you just said ‘hi.’”

 

Charley: *shifts slightly, voice clearer* “Die twice.”

 

Dane: “Am I to assume the post-coital glow is officially over? I thought that might be the case, so I have coffee.” *feels Charley’s body tense underneath his hand*

 

Charley: “Really?”

 

Dane: “Yeah.”

 

Charley: “Your hand’s squeezing my butt.”

 

Dane: “Thanks ever so, but I know exactly what my hand’s squeezing. And it’s glorious.”

 

Charley: *struggles to burrow out of her cocoon, finally succeeding in extricating herself from the waist down, blinking sleepily* “Gimme caffeine.”

 

Dane: *face breaks into a smile, as he admires Charley freshly woken, hair mussed* “Give us a kiss, first.”

 

Charley: *squints at Dane, eyes still adjusting to the brightness of the room* “Are you black-coffee-mailing me right now?”

 

Dane: “Yes.”
