A more common “ESRO-marked” Spacelab lithograph (linked below), bares the same exact caption, with the addition of the following:
“…This particular artist’s concept shows the Spacelab configured for an extravehicular activity.”
So…I’m guessing it being configured for an EVA is maybe because the hatch atop the pressurized module is flipped open? If so, I’m further guessing that an airlock was incorporated into the configuration? I never really got into the Spacelab/hab thing, so who knows.
Note in all images what appears to be a deployed solar array/panel at the far aft end of the payload bay, along with the ‘deployed’ forward reaction control system thruster clusters, pods, packages, or whatever they’re called.
