Douglas C-47 (DC-3)

Taken in July 1999.

A Douglas DC-3 painted in WWII olive drab as a C-47 Skytrain, a military version fitted out for carrying cargo or dropping paratroopers. (The Brits called it the Dakota.) In the 1930s it was the first really popular (and profitable) airliner, with a top speed of just over 200 mph (320 kmh). By 1939, DC-3s accounted for "around ninety percent of airline flights on the planet" (Wikipedia). Seen at the "Air Zoo," the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum, just south of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
