Alpha's face
OK, I admit it: I have an obsession! While my close friends in SL do their utmost to separate their avatar's appearance from their human appearance I go the exact opposite way. I have spent an extraordinary amount of time and L$'s on finding the skin that will make Alpha look as close to my human appearance as at all possible, and the sliders on my appearance palette have practically worn out in the effort... hhhh
The result ain't perfect, but close. For starters, Alpha is much younger than I am in RL - but then again, I don't look like an old hag in RL either, so I guess that this much deviation is halfway acceptable. The closest I have actually come to an accurate representation is the "Sophie" skin on the far right on the third row. I used to prefer to use either the "Elite" skin on the top left and third and fourth on the second row, or the "Mami" skin which is the third on top, and third down left - those are fairly close representations.
However, recently I have switched to a really beautiful and somehow very expressive skin (bottom right) designed by Toshiya Okawa. This, too, looks quite a bit like me, Ithink (hope - hhh). Another skin experiment has been the really amazing Ocelot skin by Vry Offcourse (top right). And finally, what has actually caused me to update this photo is a dark, greyscale skin designed by Loli Nori. Amazingly enough, Loli is giving away this incredible piece of craftsmanship, along with 2 other beauties at the Bare Rose Mall for free! Now this skin does make Alpha look like me, except, of course, for the fact that I am not of african origin - so will I be able to wear it full time?
So, why am I so stuck on this? I cannot seem to identify with my avatar unless she is a very close replica of what I am accustomed to seeing in the mirror, my self-perception... I cannot seem to be able to become immersed in the metaverse unless the avatar there is "me"!...
Pathetic or what?
Yes, Hack -- I know! (my dear RL Sensei Roy Ascott says the same thing too, btw)... I definitely need to work on this one...
Oh, and there are a couple of RL shots scattered in between... hhhh
