Buddha Entrails

The artist who created this had a very cynical view of religion. Using the well known image of Buddhism's central figure, the artist shows the Buddha being destroyed in a very gruesome way: vultures feed on the statue's entrails as they leak out of its broken belly, treating it like an animal carcass, nothing more than their next (putrid) meal. The contrast between the smile on the Buddha's face and the revolting feast of the vultures is striking.
