New Haven Railroad ALCO DER-2a class FA locomotive # 0407 & DER-3a class locomotive PA # 0771, along with others, are spotted on locomotive maintenance service tracks, in the yard area, New York, late 1950's. This scene was captured during the winter season with melting snow present. There is a bottom side inspection pit located on the track to the right where the PA is situated. Numerous diesel electric locomotives were utilized during this period to haul freight trains under wire. It is also interesting to note that the passenger PA-1 locomotives during their later life time were often drafted into freight service.
