Saratoga and North Creek
With parent company Iowa Pacific having financial issues, the future of the Saratoga and North Creek Railway may be uncertain. Yesterday's train certainly showed signs of leaner times with just one engine (SLRG GP40FH-2 #4135), one dome car, and one coach. This well-known photo location just north of Stony Creek, NY has been open for years due to the 1000 Acres Golf Course being here. However, the golf course closed not too long ago, as evidenced by the overgrown golf cart path in the foreground. Hopefully the golf course's closing is not a foreshadowing of what will happen with the railroad, and--if nothing else--let's hope that Warren County never tears up its portion the former D&H Adirondack Branch in favor of yet another bike trail.
