History:
1799- The Spanish Crown orders the construction of a Lighthouse on the top of the Montevideo Hill.
1802- Inaguration ot the Lighthouse, first one to shine on the "Rio de la Plata"
1809 to 1811- Construction of a fortress around the Lighthouse for its protection.
1931 to 1939- Restauration of the fortress based on the original specs.
1939- Creation of the museum "Jose General Artigas" (Military Museum).

1799 - Por orden de la Corona real de España se dispuso la construcción de un faro en la cúpula del cerro de Montevideo.
1802 - Inauguración del faro, el primero que alumbro las aguas del Río de la Plata.
1809 a 1811 - Construcción de una fortaleza para protección del faro.
1931 a 1939 - Se restauro la fortaleza, respetándose los planos originales.
1939 - Se crea el Museo General Artigas (Museo Militar).
