Anaglyph Stereo Pair
This is the least preferred method to view the moonrise because of the strong colors. You need red-green or red-cyan 3D-glasses.
The red Moon on the rise comes from the long path through the atmosphere near the horizon, which attenuates the light and scatters away the blue and green rays. A stereo pair literally adds another dimension to this action on September 2, 2020. Most striking is the colorful orb well behind the cityscape, but the effect is made stronger with the full depth visible in the foreground. Binoculars give you some of the 3-D impression a mythological giant might get. To achieve this view Alister Ling and Luca Vanzella ventured to a freeway ramp about 11 km (7 miles) from downtown Edmonton Alberta, placing their cameras 12 m (13 yd) apart. With near-identical settings they created the composites at 5 minute intervals. Sterephotomaker from stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/ then took care of slight rotation and scale differences as it generated the final images.
