52/2012. Week #16 Glass (Windows)

Okay, so it is little bit of a stretch on the theme, but I have been in Liverpool since Thursday. I have been following a little giant girl, her dog and her giant uncle around the streets...and I am totally exhausted ! But there is deffo glass in them windows !

You can really get some scale on this giant if you look at the folks in the windows, he was huge.

To make him walk people stood on a platform, grabbed a rope and then jumped to the ground. You can see two chaps in mid air doing this in the shot. I am sure there is an easier way, but it would not have been as half as magnificant as seeing those people do that !

Now I have over a 1000 shots to sort out. And as each shot has a RAW and a jpeg equivalent, so double that original figure. My little laptop was screaming for mercy by the end of today.

And you know what they say about luck ? Luck is when preperation meets opportunity ! Well, I got down there on thursday. So I went out for a beer or 10 with my brother. When I got back to my hotel, I decided to have a smoke before going to bed. Outside the hotel was a ferris wheel, so I decided to take my camera to get some night shots of it at the same time.

As I got closer to the wheel I noticed a little commotion over to my right...they were putting the giant uncle (he of the diving suit) into place. So at about 1.30am Friday morning I got shots that very few people would have got !

A young security guard walks over after about 20 mins "Hey mate". Oh, dear. What could this be ? "Do you want to get behind the barriers to take some photos ?" And this lovely man, let me through with the words "Don't tell anyone it was me". What a smashing bloke !

I got some really good night shots of him close up.. And I'm thinking "No other f*cker will have these ". What a result !

All in all, a fantastic weekend, but very exhausting. Before each of the events I chose to shoot, I got there an hour and a half early. Mind you, I did always end up with the best spots with only the barriers in front of me.

As for me now. I'm so tired I don't even want to go the boozer tonight...and that (for me) is the epitome of exhaustion !
