The one and only...

Near Lancaster, we made a short diversion off the M6 when returning south from Scotland. It was to view Claughton Aerial Ropeway. Built in 1924 to transport shale for processing from quarries on Claughton Moor, it is the last operational gravity powered ropeway in the UK. Sadly, when we visited it wasn't actually running but he-ho, worse things have happened.

 

Anybody fancy seeing a Hard-boiled Black Egg Aerial Ropeway??
