Flow river flow...
The River Frome, Dorset, is only c30 miles / c48kms long. However, it has taken us three summers to complete an exploration from source to sea based on Steve Wallis's book. Much was done using public footpath and bridleway rights-of-way whilst the rest was completed by vehicle. It is quite astounding what inland treasures were revealed from Iron Age tumuli to a Roman aqueduct, to ancient churches now standing in the middle of field, to grand estates, river fords, Industrial Revolution factories...and so much more. It was our beloved "slow travel" at the very best and most of the time we didn't meet another soul!
Thanks Kim for the above presentation that shows the front cover of Steve's book, the source of the Frome in Evershot and the furthest down river you can get passed Wareham without hitching a lift on a boat to complete the last half mile into Poole Harbour.
