GTW Heritage
Apparently yesterday on CSX, one of the CN heritage units painted in GTW's Battle Creek Blue got the world in a tizzie on the River Line. Back in 1990, on the "other" River Line, GTW power was a daily occurrence on the Central Vermont Mainline between St. Albans, VT and New London, CT. After the days of CV green and GTW Blue GP-9's, GT 5800 series GP38AC's became the primary power on the CV until around 1992. The slide is dated July 14, 1990 and my notes recall chasing the GMRC with GP-9's on XR-1 from Bellows Falls to Rutland and then doubling back for the CV northbound and chasing it to WRJ with Shaun McGinnis. Here "Extra GT 5803" and 4 mates hit the diamond at Bellows Falls, VT headed north up the Connecticut River valley with empty lumber and newsprint complete with a delux CN van on the rear.
