Risaldar Govindrao Narayan Rao Sawant, 31st DCO Lancers
Risaldar Govindrao Narayan Rao Sawant, 31st DCO Lancers enlisted in the Indian Army on 1st August, 1895. He was commissioned as Jemadar on 1st April 1905, promoted to Ressaidar on 11th November 1912, became Risaldar on 29th November 1914 and was sadly killed in action on 22nd December 1915. He was sent as a reinforcement to 16th Cavalry from his parent unit 31st DCO Lancers. He is commemorated at the Basra War Memorial.
