Buffle and Ruddy

For reasons unknown this lone male Bufflehead attracted a small following of female Ruddy Ducks. The female Ruddys stayed with him for quite some time, an odd looking group, then all but this one female flew off. I didn't see any female Buffleheads or any male Ruddy Ducks nearby. It was difficult to get crisp, sharp shots of them since they were constantly bobbing up and down in the surf and were far from shore. I had to heavily crop this image and hesitated posting it, but decided to post it since I like the "odd couple". Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, Virginia.
