Amazon River Victoria Water Lilies, Hudson Gardens, CO
This specific type of water lilies are rather rare. They originated in the Amazon River in South America, and the leaves of the plant are probably 3-4 feet in diameter, and the flower 8-10 inches. It is only open during the night for two nights. The first night it is white and is female. The second night, it is more pinkish (seen here) and is male. After these two nights, the flower starts to sink. The leaves also have protective thorns on the bottom, which are sharp enough to puncture rubber.
