East Outlet

The Bangor & Aroostook heritage unit leads a large eastward freight towards Brownville Junction, Maine. The trio of CMQ SD40-2Fs look great in the morning sun on a warm Sunday in February on the Moosehead Subdivision. Central Maine and Quebec was recently purchased by Canadian Pacific and sights like this at Moosehead will likely soon go away, but the line's future is much more secure than it was in the wake of the tragic Lac Megantic runaway disaster. The cold waters flowing underneath are from Moosehead Lake and will reach the Atlantic Ocean via the Kennebec River.
