The engineer cracks open the throttle for the photographers at North Eldred, just south of the New York-Pennsylvania border. A line of thunderstorms had just passed through and the sun peeked out just in time. Friday's Driftwood Turn was going to outlaw before completing their work, so they tied the train down at Emporium and hitched a ride north with the crew working the sand yard at Emporium. On Saturday morning we thought they were going to run south to Emporium with sand and then combine power, but it wasn't to be. Instead, they cabbed to Emporium, switched the sand yard, spotted the stone at Turtlepoint and then grabbed sand loads to take south, after yarding their short inbound train of empty sand and loaded tie gons at Olean. It ended up working perfectly for this serendipitous moment of "sweet light" at a quarter to two on a hot June afternoon!
