Rowing the harbor

When I was a kid my brother and I (in my profile picture, me on the left) spent many hours rowing in Portland harbor and around Casco Bay. My father and his brother as kids rowed merchant seamen from and to their ships. My father never learned how to swim and he would tell me stories of how they would often encountered problems with drunken seaman returning to their ship.
