alma mater

the only thing i remember about the cathedral of learning is the german room. i had a class on hesse, taught by this really out-there german woman.

from the moment i entered the first class i embarked on mystical journey, hard to describe all these years later. i would fall into a half-sleep, trance-like state on my desk. other students would comment and the prof would tell them to let me be, i was having an altered experience. which i was.

in these lucid dreams, the room became the setting for travels through germany with hesse and his cohorts (each room was designed to represent it's country to begin with, so a mood was undoubtedly set with just that.)

but mostly, the instructor became the archetypal star mother (definitely not earth), then my own mother (definitely scary), then my lover (although i felt no sexual attraction per se).

i felt compelled to tell her of these experiences, and was told that many had felt these ways about her and her husband over the years. they had conducted mass hallucinogenic excursions for days on end in their home during the 60's. and many had been drawn to them.

then she handed me a very secret document: her writings about her origins ..... she was from venus.

i don't remember anything after that.

square biz.
