factory manager sorting

The factory manager helped us sort netsuke into type so we could see the variations in each design. Some were flawed or out of balance, most were nice and a few were impressively well-done. I believe that once the staining and finishing touches are made, the manager and ??? sort the netsuke for different markets, with the least attractive going to the Hong Kong street vendors, but we were unable to verify this. The finished netsuke are stored upstairs in what seems to have been a residence, quite some time ago. The ceiling upstairs is very low, requiring everyone to crouch and scoot intead of walking.
