ceramic turtle

At the flea market I found this ceramic turtle. It is smaller than the palm of my hand and made out of earthenware and lightly decorated with ochre and pigments. What is really cool about this little turtle is that the head, neck, and legs are separate pieces of clay from the shell. So the turtle is fully articulated in the same way that a real turtle is. The head can retract and the legs move inside the shell.
