Tourist attraction in the Downtown Los Angeles :)
Angels Flight is a landmark and historic 762 mm narrow gauge funicular railway in the Bunker Hill district of Downtown Los Angeles, California. It has two funicular cars, named Olivet and Sinai, that run in opposite directions on a shared cable. The tracks cover a distance of 91 m over a vertical gain of 29 m. Built in 1901 and began at the west corner of Hill Street at Third and ran for two blocks uphill to its Olive Street terminus. The railway was closed on 18 May 1969 and after 27 years, the funicular was rebuilt and reopened by the newly formed Angels Flight Railway Foundation on 24 February 1996, half a block south of the original site. Angels Flight was added to the National Register of Historic Places on 13 October 2000.
Downtown Los Angeles contains the central business district of Los Angeles. It is also part of Central Los Angeles. Downtown Los Angeles is divided into neighborhoods and districts, some overlapping. Most districts are named for the activities concentrated there now or historically, e.g. the Arts, Civic Center, Fashion, Banking, Theater, Toy, and Jewelry districts. It is the hub for the city's urban rail transit system plus the Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink commuter rail system for Southern California.
