Portland Bill Lighthouse

For Matt Granger December competition. Capturing the lighthouse shortly after sunset seemed very special but gave rise to a particular challenge: too short a shutter speed and the light wouldn't appear as a beam, too long a shutter speed and the dark space between the beams disappears. And you have to activate the shutter at exactly the right time to achieve the symmetry. Overall I was very happy with the result. The four beams are a feature of the lighthouse and neither a camera nor a photoshop effect.
