JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS....
Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST 'Harold' [Illingworth] 1208 of 1916 approaches Furnace Sidings on the Blaenavon Heritage Railway with a coal train on Monday 26-5-25. The second day of the 'Coal Train weekend' and with the weather closing in it would not be long before I would be heading for home.
The working had started as the 13.20 from Furnace Sidings and would become the 14:06 from Blaenavon High Level. Though by this stage the timetable was influenced by the mornings problems.
This was originally diagrammed to work with Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST 1219 of 1910 however despite the rain there was a fire risk and 'Caledonia Works' managed to set fire to some vegetation. It was then withdrawn from service for the day.
