The Battery Langdon magazine and control facilities were hidden in a man-made hill between the two gun positions.
At Battery Langdon. This is a reinforced concrete coastal defense battery completed in 1923 to guard the entrance to Pensacola Bay. The two 12-inch (305 mm) guns here were in open air concrete pads, with no overhead protection. In 1943, the concrete casemates we now see were constructed at both gun emplacements. It's located about 1.7 miles (2.7 km) East of the old Fort Pickens. The guns were scrapped and the battery closed in 1947. It's now a historical relic. Near Pensacola, Florida.
