On April 7, 2017, Brookings Fellow Vanessa Williamson presented new research on American taxpayers’ perceptions of the tax code as part of the second annual Lubick Symposium. This new research, released March 29, results from a Tax Policy Center survey done in conjunction with the news website Vox.com. Williamson also discussed her recent book on American’s perceptions of the tax system. A panel of experts followed up with a discussion of how well do American taxpayers understand the tax code and what makes people perceive their taxes as “fair.”
