A medium-sized evergreen shrub that grows up to 4ft (1.25m) tall when mature and rather wider. In mid-summer it produces an abundance of flower spikes up to 3in (8cm) long. Each flower is about 1/4in (6mm) wide with fertile stamens, and of clear pink, an unusual colour in the smaller hebes. Hardy to 20°F (-7°C), US zones 9–10. A garden hybrid introduced in the 20th century.

 

Hebe ‘Great Orme’ is a somewhat open, evergreen, bushy shrub, which can grow to nearly 5 ft (140 cm). The parallel-sided, spear-shaped, shiny, green leaves are up to 3.5 in (9 cm) long. The flowers spikes are bright pink, fade to white to give a two-toned effect. summer to autumn.

 

This half-hardy plant grows into a large and dominant plant. It requires a neutral, alkaline, moist and well drained soil, preferring full sun, semi-shade, sun, and a position in a border or free standing. This plant is likely to need clipping.

 

One of the larger hebes, ideal for a sheltered shrub border. It is susceptible to and should be protected from leaf spot and mildew.
