Visiting:- Redbourn, Hertfordshire

No. 1 - 6:- Returning across Redbourn Common.

I wish to record my thanks to Margaret, a long-time friend, for sparing the time to show me around her home village. It is unlikely that I would have seen so much otherwise.

This area is called North Common. The path stretching ahead of us is called Lime Tree Avenue. It dates back to at least 1742.

It is the home of among other birds:-

Chaffinches Fringilla coelebs,

Goldfinches Carduelis carduelis,

Mistle Thrushes Turdus viscivorus

and, Long Tailed Tits Aegithalos caudatus.
