Church End - The Parish Church of St. Mary.

 

The Porch

- dates from about the same time as the Lady Chapel ( which we shall be seeing later) sometime between 1448 and 1455. Part of its roof, recently restored, is probably the oldest in the church. After years left standing in the porch unused, the door into the south aisle was re-hung as a thanks offering for the safety of a parishioner reported missing, in 1940. It replaced glazed double doors seen in old photographs.
