Keith Greene driving his Gilby 1961 Climax entered in the 1961 British Grand Prix at Aintree Liverpool by Gilby Engineering.
British driver Keith Greene qualified in 23rd. position on the starting grid and he finished the Grand Prix in 15th. place, 6 laps behind the winner Wolfgang von Trips in the Ferrari 156 “Sharknose”.
The Gilby 1961 Climax was designed by Len Terry who had been Colin Chapman's assistant designer at Team Lotus and he returned to Lotus to design the Lotus 38 in which Jimmy Clark won the 1965 Indianapolis 500.
Previous to the Grand Prix Gilby engineering had been testing the car at Goodwood and they invited works Cooper driver New Zealander Bruce McLaren to drive the car. Bruce recorded a time only a tenth of a second off the lap record and six seconds faster than Keith could record.
Keith Greene eventually retired from driving and he became a manager for several racing teams.
