Thirty Seconds of Sea Spray
For a long time, I have wanted to capture the JCB with a long exposure at high tide at sunset. This trip to Elgol with the intrepid members of the STS provided such conditions. The 30 second exposure may have been too long, but I like the milky effect produced by the 10-stop filter and there was no need to smear Vaseline over the lens for that 'soft-focus' effect. By the time I thought to try something shorter to get some details of wave action, I found myself surrounded by the tripods of several members of the STS, and I was reluctant to get to my camera bag to return the filter, having left it well back from the precarious rocks. Lesson learned - always challenge the STS, and keep your camera bag close...
