Cuttings from Our Spruce Tree (Macro Study)
I was out in the backyard filing bird feeders and refreshing the heated bird baths, when I noticed a rather perfect piece of spruce bough on the ground underneath the tree. I soon realized that a squirrel had done some "trimming" near the top of the tree to accommodate the new nest (drey) that she was building. It was so fresh that it still had retained the scent, so I brought inside and put it in water. Of course, it soon occurred to me to take photos.
