Piloted by Daniel 'Chappie' James during the Korean War. . While stationed at Otis A.F.B., he became commander of the 60th Interceptor Squadron in 1955. In 1975 he became the first black American to reach the rank of Four-Star General. He passed away in 1978 at age 58.
