Pipe Major
Marching pipe bands are a feature of the annual St. Patrick's Day parade in London, held on the Sunday nearest to March 17th (the date of St. Patrick's death).
Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, and is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. He was born in Roman Britain during the late fourth century, but at the age of sixteen was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped, and trained as a priest, eventually returning to Ireland, where he was an evangelist for over 30 years.
