Faroese flags

The Faroe Islands are a self governing province of Denmark, located in the North Atlantic ocean. The flag was first used in 1919, and officially approved by the Faroese parliament in 1931. The first country to formally recognise the Faroese flag was Great Britain on 25th April 1940, during the German occupation of Denmark, and ever since this date has been officially celebrated by the islanders as Faroese Flag Day!
