Royalist Ensigns
Every year, on the last Sunday in January, English Civil War re-enactors of the King's Army, parade in The Mall and on Horseguards, London, in memory of king Charles I, who was beheaded on January 30th, 1649.
The English Civil Wars, lasted in total from 1641 to 1651, and were fought between supporters of Parliament and the monarchy. King Charles I was tried and beheaded for treason in January 1649. Although generally known as the 'English' Civil War, fighting took place throughout the whole of Britain.
