Blue Dragonfly Hanging Out In The Sticks

I took my tripod mounted camera and my longest lens configuration to Santee Lakes this afternoon to photograph dragonflies. They are active and plentiful this time of year.

I used a high ISO so that I could have a smaller aperture for more depth of field, and used an on camera Nikon SB700 flash in TTL mode to help separate the dragonfly from the background, and to provide some catch lights in the eyes.

Other pictures that I've taken over the years of dragonflies are in my cleverly titled Butterflies & Dragonflies Album.
