January Bird
I noticed the other day when we got back from Puerto Rico that one of our bird of paradise plants was blossoming, so today I brought it in to exploit.
Strobist info: I wanted the translucent feathers (I mean petals) to glow so I put a YN560-II in a Rogue Grid behind the flower camera left at 1 o'clock to act as the main light. To fill in the areas that weren't backlit, I put a YN560 in a 24 inch softbox, camera left and in front at 7 o'clock. The strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.
