BET YOU MADE SOME NOISE - ERDDIG HOUSE, N.WALES - SEPT 2024
A trip to the National Trust property in North Wales during September 2024. The sawmill possess this single cylinder true vertical engine thought to be c1861 with a slide valve cylinder c8" x 16" and a 5' 2" flywheel. It has a flyball throttle governor and a small eccentric worked feed pump. It is non-condensing but there is a feedwater heater around the exhaust pipe. This operated the sawmill but has been out of use since the 1930s. There is an anonymous Cornish boiler alongside and a Babcock & Wilcox water-tube boiler out the back in the open air.
