Spencer hop
Having spotted a cut of flats in Whittier to be unloaded and reloaded with left over barge traffic due to a shortage of flats, 3006 and 3003 are now westbound through Bear Valley with a few flats in tow for Spencer. Spencer roughly 6 miles from any road and south of Portage hosts glacier tours and touristy things to do for people who ride the Alaska railroad. Every year the railroad shuttles equipment to and from Spencer for the guides to use throughout the season and with the season almost over the flats will soon be loaded up and hauled back out until spring.
