poor Mr Hoopoe
Recently a pair of hoopoes set up nest in my area and I love seeing them digging for bugs in the grass. But yesterday there was a terrible noise- a female kestrel swooped down and caught Mr. Hoopoe. There was little that I could do except watch as she deftly ripped out his wing feathers before killing him, and flying off to her own hungry chicks.
I just HAD to collect the feathers. There's a real one in the midst of these watercolour ones!
