Princess Sarani was watching her mate Sabu, leap up onto the rock ledge where she followed him soon after and then snuggled up for a mid-day nap. Many of you already know that Snow Leopards are great jumpers.
"Able to leap 50 feet horizontally! Able to jump 20 feet vertically!"
Brookfield Zoo has acquired two Snow Leopards for hopefully future babies. They arrived in October 2011. The 20 month old male, Sabu, is from Cape May Zoo in New Jersey and the 15 month old female, Sarani, is from Tautphaus Zoo in Idaho. It appeared that they bonded very quickly which is a great sign.
Sabu and Sarani are part of the SSP breeding program as they are an endangered species.
