Although now slightly outdated, I decided to include this in the portfolio as I believe it demonstrates both my change in attitude towards Art and Design but also my ability to think further than just concepts on paper.
In my personal statement I discussed how my opinions of 'useful' designs were far greater than that of 'pointless' design. Whilst I appreciate Art and the emotions and questions it can pose to us, I now think in a much more practical and product orientated way.
I do however enjoy balance between form and function (one of the reasons I set myself the challenge to redesign a staircase), and this is the main reason for the inspiration photograph I chose at the end of this set.
