Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea

The Canadian frigate is part of Operation ALTAIR, Canada's maritime contribution to the U.S.-led coalition campaign against terrorism mission known as Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
HMCS Winnipeg is deployed for a period of six months to the Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf) region and is operating with the 5th Fleet of the United States Navy. With her crew of 240 officers and sailors, and her CH-124 Sea King helicopter detachment, HMCS Winnipeg is conducting surveillance patrols and maritime interdiction operations in order to control sea-based activity in the region.

Des membres de l’équipe de plongeurs de bord du NCSM Winnipeg, le Matelot de 1re classe Andy O'Brien (à gauche), de Cape Broyle (Terre Neuve), et le Matelot de 2e classe Marc Tremblay, de Victoria (C. B.), vérifient leur équipement avant de plonger dans le golfe d’Oman.
La frégate canadienne participe à l’opération Altair, la contribution maritime du Canada à la campagne dirigée par les É. U. et menée par la coalition contre le terrorisme, connue sous le nom d’opération Enduring Freedom.
Déployé dans la région du golfe Arabo-Persique pour une période de six mois, le NCSM Winnipeg collabore avec la 5e flotte de la United States Navy. Constitué d’un équipage de 240 officiers et matelots ainsi que d’un détachement d’hélicoptères CH-124 Sea King, le NCSM Winnipeg effectue des patrouilles de surveillance et mène des opérations d’interdiction maritime afin de contrôler les activités maritimes dans la région.
