60163 Tornado - Northern Belle - Long Preston 24/7/2021
Having heard earlier in the day that Lizzie had failed her FTR exam, and that Tornado had been brought down from Scotland overnight to deputise, my cunning plan, with a <20 minute water stop at Hellifield scheduled, to catch the train at Long Preston, then move to Goosemere Height for the departure towrads Clitheroe.
The first part of the plan went OK and 60163 is seen here drifting throuigh Long Preston towards Hellifield.
From then on things went wrong. Having concentrated on the RTT timings for the train, I had failed to notice a new path from Hellifield back to Carnforth. There were four of us waiting expectantly at Goosemere Height until the train finally showed up 25 late behind 57 601 Windsor Castle. I assume this was to get 60163 back to Scotland for tomorrow's Aberdonian.
