Observation farm
Many ant species dig nests underground, which makes it difficult to observe the ant behavior in a natural setting. One method for getting around this problem is to construct "ant farms" out of two panes of glass and thin strips of plastic or wood, held together with binder clips. Here are two seed-harvester ant queens in the midst of digging a new nest.
