St Edward’s, Kempley
Kempley is in the centre of the “Golden Triangle” of Gloucestershire, so called because native wild daffodils grow in profusion, definitely worth a visit. Kempley Church is at the centre of the celebrations this weekend, we visited on Friday before the crowds! This church was built in 1903 in an Arts and Crafts style by local craftspeople, it’s very different from any other church we’ve seen, more like a barn inside with beautiful decorative details.
The original 12th Century church, over a mile away, is also worth a visit. This new church was built because the villagers moved to higher ground, away from an area liable to flooding and the old church was too far away, more of that one another day.
I took this just after a hailstorm, so some sliding to warm it up a bit!
