A is for arch

Taken at Croome last week. Croome Court was the ancestral home of the Earls of Coventry. It was sold in 1948 and became first a boys' school and then a centre for the Hare Krishna movement. It was purchased by the National Trust in 1996 and since then many restoration projects have been carried out; it's always a good place to visit for a walk in the extensive parkland and see the varied exhibitions that take place in the house itself.

This arch would have been in use in the days of the Earls of Coventry as visiting carriages would enter here, it is no longer used as the main entrance but still stands as a reminder of grander times.

The Smile on Saturday theme this week is Anything with A.
