Voice Alert Radio
This is what the first unit looks like.
It started life as a 70-342B XL.
A 40 watt, 80 channel wide space VHF high band radio.
Simple, rugged, reliable radio.
Ch 00 is 144.39 the national APRS Channel.
When that is selected, a signal allows the TT3 module to function.
At this point I 'stole' one of the LED MSB signals for this function.
When I did that, some other channel numbers became un avalable, since they too would turn on the APRS function.
In the future I hope to work out a PIC that will read the BCD signals in the radio and turn the APRS module and the Tone Decode "on" at just one channel. (39 perhaps) but time and money are not with me today.
So as a Rev 1 Project, it's good.
It can be better.
